This video highlights a Thermal Press International C-Series machine performing precision foil heat sealing on an array of small vials. The process is designed to deliver accurate, repeatable seals for small-format vial applications where consistency and alignment are critical.
In this application, the eight vials are loaded into a custom-designed fixture that supports proper positioning throughout the sealing cycle. The tooling incorporates precision locating pins to align the carrier film and foil material accruately over the open end of each vial. This controlled setup helps ensure uniform seal placement and repeatable results from cycle to cycle.
The system is equipped with a power shuttle table that improves both operator efficiency and process consistency. The operator loads the vial array at the home position, and the shuttle moves the fixture into the sealing area beneath the thermal head. After the first end of the eight vials is sealed, the fixture is opened, the vials are flipped, and the process is repeated to seal the opposite end. This step-by-step approach ensures both ends are sealed accurately while maintaining stable part handling throughout the operation.
During each sealing cycle, the thermal head applies controlled heat and pressure to bond the foil material to the vial openings. Critical process parameters – including temperature, dwell time, and applied force – are carefully controlled to achieve strong, repeatable seals without damaging the vials or the sealing material.
This application demonstrates how the C-Series platform can be configured with custom fixturing and shuttle-table automation to support precise foil sealing processes for medical, diagnostic, and other small-component manufacturing environments.
