Heat Sealing Pre-Cut Filters to a Wearable Medical Patch

This video highlights one of Thermal Press International’s C-Series machines being used to heat seal pre-cut filters onto wearable medical patches in a 6-up configuration. Applications such as this are common in medical and wearable device manufacturing, where precise placement, repeatable sealing performance, and efficient multi-part processing are essential to product quality and throughput.

In this process, six wearable patch assemblies are loaded into a custom-engineered fixture designed to securely locate each part for consistent alignment. Pre-cut filter material is automatically advanced and presented to the sealing station through an integrated roll feed system, ensuring reliable material handling and accurate placement prior to each cycle. Controlled heat, pressure, and dwell time are then applied to bond the filter media to the patch assemblies with uniform, repeatable results.

To improve operator efficiency and production output, the machine is equipped with a power shuttle table that allows convenient loading and unloading while the thermal head cycles in the work zone. The 6-up tooling configuration enables multiple parts to be processed simultaneously, helping reduce cycle time and increase manufacturing capacity.

Thermal Press systems are widely used for wearable medical patches, filtration components, membranes, transdermal products, and other precision assemblies where process control and validation-ready repeatability are critical. Thermal Press International provides customized heat sealing solutions engineered to meet demanding medical manufacturing and regulatory environments.
